Currently situated on 35 acres in the rolling hills of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, our beautifully landscaped grounds with ponds, fountains, walking trails, and colorful plants are carefully tended. We invite residents to enjoy the view close up or from their residence.

In 1935, Katie and Wilmer Alderfer purchased a “tourist home” on 9.9 acres located on the outskirts of Sellersville, Pennsylvania. They began to operate this as a convalescent home for short-term guests.

In 1954, the Alderfers sold the property to the nearby Rockhill Mennonite Church. They expanded the services to residents by enlarging the home so that by 1975, the number of residents had increased from 13 to 55.

During the early years of the 1970’s, the home was released to the auspices of the Franconia Mennonite Conference as part of its caring ministries program. In 1976, plans were approved to replace the “old home” to create Rockhill Mennonite Community. On August 29, 1978, 36 Healthcare Center residents moved in to the newly constructed facility that provided services for 96 Healthcare Center residents and 39 independent living apartments.

By 1982, the Community expanded by the addition of 96 more independent living apartments and an activity center, which accommodated the Adult Day Services program, as well as providing social space for many activities and Auxiliary events.

In 1991, an additional 92 apartments were added to the Independent Living Center, bringing the total number of apartments to 224.

In 1998, another expansion program was completed which included the renovation of the Healthcare Center, the relocation of the Adult Day Services program, and a Personal Care Center was added, which serves up to 40 residents. A new therapeutic pool, woodworking/hobby center, fitness center and therapy center were also added. At the present time Rockhill provides a full continuum of care, all under one roof. This permits for the changing needs of approximately 400 residents to be met by professional, caring staff.
